Off-site: THE OXYMORONS on Take No Prisoners TV (1994)

A video of my old band playing a show in Flint, Michigan, where we used to play quite often with a Flint band called THE WILL (more on them in a future post when I upload their cassette).
This show was recorded and later broadcast on Flint public access television. A couple of years ago, that show turned up on the internet.

Take No Prisoners TV actually did a number of shows featuring punk rock bands from the late '80s and early '90s from Michigan and parts beyond. You can find those shows and more (including performances by SCREECHING WEASEL, THE QUEERS, and RATS OF UNUSUAL SIZE) at the Flint Underground Music Archive.

Please pay no attention to what I'm wearing in this video: baseball cap and long sleeve turtleneck? Not sure what I was thinking. Flint, I guess, is just one of those places where you do things that are best ignored.

take care

UPDATE: as of 3-31-2011, this video seems to no longer be available, nor do any other videos previously offered under the "Take No Prisoners" TV masthead. Don't know what to tell you. Such is the transient nature of the web.

Wow Pat, I never knew this had been found. So, what the hell was "That River"? I don't remember that song at all, sounds like we were trying to sound like Sugar.

Makes me really miss Ben.

I know this is random but I am wondering if you know anything about music hustory in Dayton/Centerville. I stumbled upon your blog in my search and I thought you might have some tips. My boyfriend and I are going on a scavenger hunt and the topic is music history. We have done some research to no avail. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi, I work at WYSO! I'm doing some work with the archives and I'm also building an alumni database. Your blog keeps popping up again and again. I'm wondering if you might have contact info for some of the WYSO-affiliated folks you mention in your posts. Shoot me an email at interns.wyso@wyso.org
Many thanks!

Hello there...
I'm Steve, I lived in Dayton from 1992-1998 and put out records by a few of these bands (Larry Brrrds, The Barnhills, A Ten O'Clock Scholar, The Know Nothings, etc). You won't remember me, I'm not actually sure we were ever properly introduced but I saw several of your bands (Oxymorons, Colavision, Heike) and I think my roommate Gavin played bass for Heike for a couple shows. Aaaanyway, just writing to say this blog is rad. Keep it up.

Yeah, Steve, I don't think I met you either, but Dave (Graeter) used to talk about you a bit. You put out some great records here.

Yes, Gavin did play a few shows with HEIKE. That band sort of had a string of really good, really cool bass players. By the way, if you ever see Gavin, tell him I want my Husker Du _Zen Arcade_ CD back!

take care
